Restoran Extra Super Tanker

While we’re on the sugar and spice and all things nice across the Causeway, delicious thought she’d share a few little nuggets from a dinky restaurant she and the folks visited on her last trip up North…

 

 

One of d-dad’s golfing kakis mentioned that this was a really good place for family gatherings, especially because it’s great value-for $.  So, the always hospitable Haze and Navs were kind enough to point us in the right direction and guide us down the right SS.  It’s a truly home-style restaurant that seems to appeal to the neighbourhood crowd. 

The second floor however was a little more posh with LCD screens screening the hottest S.H.E hits circa 2001.  The highlight of delicious’ night –  the karaoke tunes that escaped from the private rooms! She happily sang along, much to Haze’s embarassment!
 

Anyhoo,  while the dishes were warm and tasty, our sensitive Singaporean palates found the preparation a little "traditional" – the chefs were very liberal with their use of salt and seasoning and the portions were not as delicate… The seafood wasn’t as fresh as the delights that were served at Imbi Palace. 

That said, Extra Super Tanker scores points in the innovation department, the deep fried pork ribs with crispy dried shrimp were oh-so-yummy as was the very unusual HK veggie (also known as nai pai) in a tasty yam stock (nice and lemak!). 

The verdict:  If you’re into retro, old skool Chinese food "lian bang" style, Extra Super Tanker is just the place for you!  But really, not worth a trip unless you’re in the area.
